Quantitative Power Flow Characterization of Energy Harvesting Shock Absorbers by Considering Motion Bifurcation

Vibration energy harvesting technology can capture ambient forms. Using an shock absorber (EHSA) is one of the methods to achieve this function. The EHSA with mechanical motion rectifier (MMR) has bifurcation, which improve performance and reduce impact between gears. However, bifurcation makes it difficult quantitatively predict vibrational dissipation MMR−EHSA. Evaluating MMR−EHSA during design phase becomes highly complex. In paper, a novel nonlinear dynamics model MMR−EHSAs established solve quantitative power flow. Furthermore, proposed prototype fabricated, testing initiated verify theoretical under harmonic vibration. results show that working characterization MMR−EHSAs. resistance optimal maximum damping revealed by flow addition, random vibration discussed. advantages when solving input potential for practical application.
